Prostate self-knowledge #12
What is a prostate (the male gland)? Where is it and why is it there? How can you take care of it? Not many can answer these questions. Yet it can affect all your life, particularly at night with urination.
The prostate gland is a chestnut-shaped organ, partly muscular and partly glandular of 1 1/2 inches wide and long. It sits above the bladder, next to the rectum, and surrounds the urethra ( the urinary exit tube) in the male genito-urinary system. Although endocrine dependant it is not clear how this works.
